HOW TO RECOGNIZE A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant health phenomenon. Every year at least 1.7 million TBIs are reported, and TBI contributes to a third (30.5%) of all injury-related deaths in the United States. The major causes of TBI are falls, accidents (auto accidents or being struck by an object) and assaults.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has compiled a list of crucial symptoms that could indicate whether you or someone you love has suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Signs of a traumatic brain injury

Most people recover quickly from a concussion. However, if you experience any of the following symptoms for an extended period, you should consult a medical professional:

  • Continued headaches
  • Fuzzy or blurry vision
  • Difficulty thinking clearly
  • Dizziness
  • Sleeping more or less than usual
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Balance problems
  • Sensitivity to noise or light
  • Difficulty remembering new information
  • Feeling a range of emotions, including sadness, irritability, nervousness, or anxiety
  • Claims for traumatic brain injuries

TBI may require filing a lawsuit against a company that made a defective or dangerous product, such as a faulty seat belt. In these cases, you are required to prove that the product deficiency either caused the accident or made the injuries worse than they would have been had the product not been defective. Having a legal team experienced in accident reproduction is crucial to winning such a claim.

In addition, sometimes it is difficult to diagnose TBI because its symptoms can appear like other conditions the client may already have. You need a lawyer experienced in proving their clients have suffered TBI for your case to be successful.
